During the Case Sparse | Tra l’Etere e la Terra residency I’ve realized a site-specific project on the wood-river route of Malonno, in Camonica Valley. My intent was to work on and with the marks of this area. My intervention started from a reflection on the rocks that characterize this Valley. Camonica Valley stone retains natural an humans traces, going from Neolithic to Contemporary era and my attention was to focus on these traces of specific historical contexts: Neolithic traces of ritual origin, signs left by miners which worked to mining activity of Siderite (to obtain iron), from the Iron Age (800-400 B.C.). until about 1953, and traces of natural elements formed by human being abandonment of mines. My bronze work is settled in a small stream bed. Water in touch with bronze is going to increase green coloration of matters, by increasing its oxidation state. Over the years this chemical reaction will enable the camouflage of my work into the environment.
in Camonica Valley rocks are the elements which host and keep humans’ traces; nature creates new balance. To this balance is dedicated my project.
